What payment methods can I use to rent a vehicle?
Accepted payment methods are cash, credit card, or debit card.
Can I rent a vehicle without a credit card?
Yes, you can rent a vehicle without a credit card using a debit card or cash.
Can I use someone else's credit card?
Yes, you can use someone else's credit card. If there is insurance from another company, the customer is responsible for the terms and conditions of that insurance.
How long does it take for the pre-authorization or deposit to be available?
After the vehicle is returned, the deposit is unlocked at the time of return and may take between 1 to 15 business days to be available in the credit card account for which the pre-authorization or deposit was made.
What types of coverage are included in the rental price?
Rental includes third-party insurance, covering collision or theft of the vehicle, with this coverage subject to a deductible. To avoid situations of making a deposit or being liable for damages to the vehicles, total insurance is always the best option.
Do I need to leave a deposit to rent a vehicle?
It is necessary to leave a security deposit for reservations made without the total insurance sold by RentX.
What does the all-risk insurance cover?
All-risk insurance covers damages to the rental vehicle and third parties, provided they are not due to negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or any violation of the traffic code. All-risk insurance does not cover damages inside the vehicle.
What should I do if I have insurance or coverage from another company?
If you have insurance with another company, you should check their requirements and verify with RentX if it is possible to provide the necessary documentation in case of damage to the rental vehicle.
What is not included in any coverage?
Damages caused by negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or any violation of the traffic code are not covered by any insurance. Damages inside the vehicle are also not covered by any type of coverage.
Can I travel with my vehicle to Porto Santo?
The RentX rent a car vehicle cannot be transported to Porto Santo; it can only be driven on the island of Madeira.
I want to change the details of a reservation, how can I do that?
To change the details of a reservation, simply send an email to bookings@rentx.pt with the necessary changes.
Can I return the vehicle to a different location?
Returning the vehicle to a different location than the pickup location, when not previously agreed upon in the rental contract, incurs a cost of 30€.
At what age can I rent a car?
You can rent a car at 18 or older. Drivers under 21 may be subject to a young driver fee at the time of booking or pickup.
Who is authorized to drive my vehicle?
Only drivers listed in the rental agreement are authorized to drive the vehicle.
Is it possible to guarantee the model of a vehicle?
The specific model is never guaranteed, but RentX always guarantees the same class or higher.
Can I rent more than one vehicle at a time?
Each person can rent more than one vehicle, provided that the driver who will drive the other vehicle is present at the time of pickup.
What is the cost of the fuel deposit?
Fuel costs 20€ for each ¼ tank missing. The company's fuel policy is full to full.
I want to add one or more additional drivers, how can I do that?
An additional driver can be added to the reservation or at the pickup. A reservation can include multiple additional drivers.
I want to rent a GPS, where can I do that?
GPS rental is available for purchase on our website; you can select GPS as an extra at the time of booking.
What types of child car seats do you have available?
Child car seats are available for rent and can be found in the extras section when making a reservation. Our seats come in 3 types: 0kg – 9kg, 9kg – 18kg, and booster seat.
Can I add any of the services to my already confirmed reservation?
You can add any extra to a confirmed reservation through the email bookings@rentx.pt.
When I arrive at the destination, how do I find the RentX office?
In Machico/airport, pickup is at the store, with a free shuttle service from the airport to the store. When you land, just call us at +351 939 149 411, and we will pick you up near the café at the exit of the Funchal airport arrivals. The van that picks you up takes about 10 minutes after the call.
In Funchal, pickup is at the store, and the customer should go to the RentX store in Funchal.
What documents do I need to present to pick up the vehicle?
For vehicle pickup, the customer must present an ID card or passport and a driver's license. Also, they should have a means of completing payment or the deposit in case the reservation is not yet paid or requires a deposit.
Can I pick up a vehicle if my flight is delayed and arrives after the store closes?
If your flight is delayed, contact RentX to inform them, providing the arrival time. If your flight arrives between 7 PM and 8:30 AM, there is an additional cost of 30€ for out-of-hours delivery or return.
Are there mileage limits?
There is no mileage limit at RentX.
How can I get information about personal items forgotten in the vehicle?
To obtain information about personal items left in the vehicle, simply send an email to bookings@rentx.pt or call +351 939149411.
How can I contact roadside assistance?
The contact information for roadside assistance is always provided in the rental agreement.
What should I do in case of a flat tire or tire blowout? Does the insurance cover these situations?
In case of a flat tire or tire blowout, always contact RentX at the number specified in your rental agreement for assistance. Insurance covers tire punctures and blowouts; the deposit does not cover any damage to the vehicle, including tires.
What should I do in case of loss, breakage, or theft of the vehicle keys?
In case of loss, breakage, or theft of the vehicle keys, call the 24-hour assistance, and RentX will provide the necessary help.
I had an accident, what do I do?
In case of an accident, the driver should follow these steps:
Do not move the vehicle.
Place the reflective vest and triangle at a safe distance from the vehicle.
Contact RentX and the police.
Take photos of both vehicles at the accident site and the moment of impact.
Wait for further instructions from the police and RentX.
