Madeira is part of MOBI.E, Portugal's public charging network, which covers every municipality — including the islands. There are more than 100 public charging stations on the island, with over ten fast chargers in Funchal alone.
Charging where you stay
Many hotels on the island offer charging for guests, and more and more holiday rentals do too. On Airbnb you can filter by "EV charger"; on other platforms, check the amenities or ask your host before booking.
Good to know
- For everyday driving, keep the battery between 20% and 80% — that's also where it charges fastest.
- Air conditioning and long climbs use more energy; long descents give some of it back.
- WLTP range is a standard reference. Real range depends on terrain, speed and temperature.
- Move the car once it has finished charging — some networks charge an idle fee.
